Reinvigorate releases desktop software to track website visits in real time

Website metrics service reinvigorate has released a software that allows bloggers and site owners to view visits in real time on their desktop. Snoop, the desktop client, streams website visits and data. As soon as someone visits your website or goes to another page, you’d know about it.

I’ve previously written about reinvigorate here. Last night, I tested the Windows version of the software and it was fun to monitor visits in this website and in other site I help run. Reinvigorate tracks visitors’ path through your website and it was fascinating to watch it in real time. Reinvigorate assigns tracking IDs to each visitor so it can monitor how they got to your site, the pages they visit, and the time they spent in the site. You even have the option of actually putting a name to the tracking ID if the visitor is registered to your site.

One of the visits I closely followed was of a reader who came to this site while searching in Google for “how to use wordpress for magazine websites.” The reader then landed on this post: How to use WordPress to run a magazine, news website. After a few minutes, the reader then visited my post announcing the release of Nautica-magazine WordPress theme. A few more minutes later, the reader visited my post on how to convert any web template into a WordPress theme. The reader then visited this blog’s home page and read my recent articles.

The application can be very addictive, especially if you are a web counter and stats junkie. Even if Snoop isn’t the active window in your PC, a tray icon notifies you of any new action in your website: new visitor, new referred visitor, page views and, if you set it up, new comments, registration or donation.

Snoop is only available to Windows and Mac systems. Sadly, there isn’t a Linux version. But that might not be such a bad thing. At least this great piece of software stays off my main blogging gear–a Linux laptop–and saves me from the distraction of being able to watch each website visit in real time in the blogs and sites I run.

  1. You forgot to mention that it’s currently in beta and free after we enter our e-mail address to be notified when the next batch of invites are available.

  2. I love reinvigorate and have been using it for about 2 weeks now. I just recently downloaded Snoop as well and it’s funny how you act stalker-ish to your visitors in real time because you actually know their page activity.

  3. I’ve just started my personal blog and was looking at blog gadgets since I’m new to this lot. This one is maybe a little too powerful… if only my little readership knew how much I can monitor them.

  4. Im hoping they come up with a mac version. 🙁
